DivaGirl Wellness Corner: Add More “Play” Into Your Day

Work hard. Play hard. You’ve probably heard these two statements before and perhaps even live by it. However, let’s be honest. How much play time are you really making time for? One of the most common complaints that I hear from clients is that they don’t have enough time for themselves. We can’t control the fact that there are only 24 hours in each day. However, we do have the power to choose what we want to do with our time. I’ve learned and realized that by consciously making time for more play, I now get more work done without having to work harder. It’s amazing!

I’d like to share with you a simple yet effective “play” type of activity that you can start incorporating into your morning routine. It only takes about 5 minutes, will leave you feeling rejuvenated, and can greatly affect your mood for the rest of the day.

So here it is:
Dance to one of your favourite songs every morning before starting your day! This is an activity that I personally practice on a daily basis. I’ve even created a “happy songs” playlist on my iPod to make the process even simpler. To get the most out of this, allow yourself to let go of any emotional resistance and let your body move in whatever way it is drawn to move. Who cares if you’re on beat or not. This isn’t about trying to impress anyone. Get into your zone, let loose and have fun! View this as an opportunity to connect with and love your body, celebrate your life, and release any negative energy that is no longer
serving you. You may even find yourself making time for an extra song or two each morning!
